Anurag Sutkar / Solapur. It is not a new thing to link many important issues of the state with former Chief Minister and NCP President Sharad Pawar. Sharad Pawar, who is at the center of the state’s politics, is now in discussion for a different reason. Pawar’s name has now been used by a farmer from Solapur district in such a way that everyone is getting interest in the discussion. Some are even saying that the taste of this ‘autumn’ is very sweet!

Dattatreya Gadge of Solapur has named a mango grown in his garden after Sharad Pawar. A special experiment was done on 20 to 25 trees of Gadge’s garden. The weight of one mango of this tree is up to two and a half kilos. He has named this mango Sharad Mango.

Why the name of Sharad Pawar?

Describing the reason for naming the mango after Sharad Pawar, Gadge said that when Pawar was the Chief Minister of the state, he had started the Phalbagh scheme. ‘Through this scheme we planted 8 acres of agricultural land and about 7000 kesar mango plants.’ Gadge said that Sharad Mango has become a center of attraction for people in the Mango Festival because of its weight as well as its name. Gadge also told the method of making this mango.

In our farm we mainly produce Kesar Mango. Different homeopathic medicines have been used on this mango tree. Rajendra Pawar of Baramati Krishi Vigyan Kendra and Baramati Krishi Vikas Trust did further research on this.

According to Gadge, due to this research and experiment, there was a bumper production of 2.5 kg mangoes. The scientists of Baramati Agricultural College agreed to name it after Sharad Pawar after coming to the mango festival.
