Despite the Election Commission’s ban on taking photos and videos of EVMs during voting, people are not agreeing to do so. Incidents of taking such photos and making videos have also taken place in Aligarh city. A case has been registered regarding this in Bannadevi area of the metropolis for making the video viral. In this case, independent candidate Pandit Keshav Dev of Anti-Corruption Army has raised the demand for cancellation of elections. A memorandum has also been given to ADM City in this regard.
In this regard, a case has been registered against Yogesh Gautam and his wife on behalf of the Inspector of Bannadevi police station. According to this case, he went to the Indian Public School center in Sarsaul and cast his vote on EVM and made a video of it. After this, he made that video viral by posting it on his Facebook ID.
A case was filed against Yogesh Gautam and his wife on behalf of Rajveer Singh. It is alleged that both of them have violated the confidentiality of the voting process. This is influencing the voters without properly influencing the voting and is in the category of crime. This is also a violation of the code of conduct. Inspector Pankaj Kumar Mishra has confirmed the registration of the case. Here, in this regard, independent candidate Keshav Dev has given a memorandum to ADM City demanding cancellation of the elections.
Social media team is reviewing
This is not the only incident of making a photo and video of voting time viral. There have been other such incidents in the district. Due to which social media posts on the day of voting are being monitored. The social media team of the district police is engaged in this work. As the facts emerge, other cases may also be filed in the district. Let us tell you that all the political leaders of the district have also made such posts viral on social media.
Restrictions imposed on the instructions of the Commission
The Commission had clear instructions that no one would go inside the polling booth with a mobile or electronic device. Following this instruction, the police teams deployed for security were stopping the voters, so that no one could take photos etc. and make them viral. At some places there were even altercations regarding such incidents.
