Three generations of tabla players from Kashi paid homage to Ustad Zakir Hussain, known as the Tabla Emperor, with the beats of the tabla. On Monday, on behalf of Kashi Kala Kasturi and Pt. Shivnath Mishra Music Foundation, artists gave an emotional presentation in the memory of Zakir Hussain at Sitar Kunj in Bhadaini. Kashi’s senior tabla player Pandit Kishan Ramdohkar paid tribute to the maestro with a flower in the form of music. He presented old compositions in three rhythms. After that, he gave a tribute to the maestro with some bandishes composed by his guru, ranging from ‘Dhin-Dhina’, ‘Ghit Ghit Kit’. Before him, the second and third generation talented tabla players of Kashi paid homage to the maestro with the beats of the tabla. Tabla players Shrikant Mishra, Prashant Mishra, Siddhant Mishra and Navneet Prajapati together from the stage refreshed the memories of Ustad Zakir Hussain’s performance in everyone’s mind with the ancient Uthaan, Chalankari, Baat etc. of Banaras Gharana composed in the middle rhythm of three taals. . Anish Mishra accompanied him on Sarangi. Presiding over the function, world renowned sitarist Padmashree Pandit Shivnath Mishra said that Ustad Zakir Hussain gave global heights to classical music. Our wish was to present a program with him once in Kashi, which remained unfulfilled forever. Tabla players of Banaras can learn a lot by following him. Chief guest Puran Maharaj said that Zakir was an artist of a different temperament. We had family relations with him. I feel sad while paying tribute to him. He definitely went but drew a big line.
