Railway sources said that both the players can be relieved from their posts as soon as possible.
Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat have recently joined the Congress. Vinesh Phogat has got a ticket to contest from Julana assembly seat in Haryana. At the same time, Bajrang Punia has been appointed as the working president of the All India Kisan Congress.
‘We have decided to relax the rules’
A senior railway official told PTI-Bhasha, ‘Although there is a provision for a railway employee to serve a three-month notice period after resigning, this rule will not come in the way of relieving these two players, because in this case we have decided to relax the norms. Railway sources said that both the players will probably be relieved today or as soon as possible.
Show cause notice issued
Both the players had met party leader Rahul Gandhi to join the Congress. After this, Northern Railway had issued a show cause notice to both the players. Regarding this notice, Northern Railway had said, ‘Show cause notice is a part of the service rules, because they are government employees. After this notice, both of them resigned from the railways.
Earlier there were speculations that Vinesh Phogat might not be able to contest the elections due to the three-month notice period rule. Let us tell you that according to the election rules, to contest the elections, she must be officially relieved from the Railways. In such a situation, now that the Railways has started the process of accepting her resignation, there is no obstacle in her contesting the elections.
Vinesh will come to Julana in Jind today for campaigning
After getting the ticket, Vinesh Phogat is reaching Julana in Jind for the first time. Chaugama Khap will organize a felicitation ceremony for Vinesh Phogat in Kheda Bakhta village of Julana. Vinesh Phogat’s in-laws live here. Food has been arranged for 5000 people in the felicitation ceremony.
