Vinod Khanna joined Osho’s neo-sanyas in the late 70s. He often used to go to Osho International Meditation Resort after finishing shooting on weekends and meditate. He stayed in this ashram for a long time during the years 75 to 76. This was the same period when many of his biggest hits were being released.
Vinod Khanna was introvert in the beginning
According to Swami Chaitanya Kirti, when Vinod Khanna initially came to Osho Ashram in Pune, he was an introvert and was in search of answers related to life. But gradually while meditating, he found peace and completely changed.
Chaitanya Kirti tells that Vinod gradually became sociable from introvert. During this period he never thought of maintaining his star status. When Vinod Khanna reached the Ashram, auto drivers would stop him at the gate and ask him to take photographs and he would happily accompany them.
Vinod Khanna became Vinod Bharti
In 1982, at the peak of his career, Vinod Khanna left stardom aside and went to Osho Ashram in America. According to tradition, all the disciples were given work here, Vinod Khanna was also given work and Osho changed him from Vinod Khanna to Vinod Bharti.
Vinod Khanna got the job of gardener. In this work he had to take care of the garden. And Vinod Khanna did this. He would water the plants and also prune them.
According to Indian Express, Kirti told that Vinod worked wholeheartedly as a gardener from 1982 to 1985. And emerged as a spiritually developed human being. After this, when Vinod Khanna returned from there, he also joined politics and served.
Even when he became an MP, he did not break his ties with Osho and later continued visiting Osho Nisarg present in B Dharamshala. Kirti also told that Vinod spent his entire life like a monk.
