VoLTE vs VoNR difference and which one is better for communication Jio use VONR for 5G networks

VoLTE vs VoNR: You all must have seen LTE written in front of mobile network in smartphones. Earlier in Android smartphones, this data was written after turning it on. Today we will tell you what this LTE means and what is the difference between VoLTE and VoNR. Both these terms are related to the telecom industry and are used to provide you a better mobile network.

There was a time when voice reached from one place to another through telephone through wires. With time, new technology was adopted in the telecommunication industry and then voice started reaching from one place to another through the Internet. This is called VoIP. VoIP means Voice over Internet Protocol. As technology advanced, VoLTE was used again. Now Jio is providing 5G service in the country through VoNR.

What is meant by VoLTE?

VoLTE means Voice over Long Term Evolution. In this technology, voice travels from one place to another through 4G internet. Due to 4G, users got the facility of better call quality, faster call setup time and faster data transfer than before.

VoNR

VoNR means Voice over News Radio. This is the latest version of VoIP. That is, this is the latest version of talking through internet which provides better call quality and internet speed than 4G.

What is Voice over New radio(VoNR) Technology?

What is the difference between the two?

network generation: VoLTE works on LTE network, which is 4G network whereas VoNR works on 5G network. VoLTE was introduced to provide voice services over the existing LTE infrastructure while VoNR is specifically designed to provide voice services in 5G networks. Reliance Jio gives you 5G service on this whereas VI is still based on 4G.

core network: VoLTE uses the IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) architecture in the core network to enable voice calls. It uses LTE packet-switched network for data transmission and uses IMS voice call control protocol. At the same time, VoNR uses cloud-native 5G core network architecture that is designed to support the capabilities of 5G, including voice services.

Latency and Quality of Service; One advantage you get in VoNR is that it provides better call quality than VoLTE and the latency is much less. Real time communication is better due to low latency.

standalone operation: VoNR does not require LTE infrastructure to provide 5G services as it supports standalone operation. This helps network operators to deploy and operate pure 5G networks for voice and data services. At the same time, since VoLTE is part of the LTE ecosystem, it cannot work in standalone mode and it needs LTE to work.

Coverage and Capacity: 5G provides better coverage area and capacity compared to 4G networks. 5G networks can efficiently handle more voice and data connections with higher data rates and large-scale machine to machine communications. That means its capacity is good and users get a great experience.
