The weather balloon was released from the roof of the Geography Department at 4 pm on 16 October. Due to change in weather, the signal became weak after reaching a height of 20 kilometers. At around 6 o’clock the balloon burst at a height of 26 km. Project Director Prof. Atiq Ahmed said that permission was sought from Air Traffic Control to release the balloon. After getting permission the balloon was released. The first weather balloon was released on 11 July.

He told that about six meters of rope is tied to the weather balloon. A radiosonde device is tied at its end, which provides location information from the GPS installed on its right side. There is a sensor installed on the left side, which collects information about temperature, humidity, pressure, wind direction and speed and gives it to the transmitter. This transmitter sends data to the receiver installed on the roof of the Geography Department, which is continuously displayed on the screen.
