In Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Western Himalayan region, the temperature dropped due to rain on Sunday. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a warning of inclement weather for the next three to five days in most parts of the country.
The IMD tweeted, “Heavy to very heavy rain is likely over the next three days over Northwest, East, Central, South and Northeast India.” Hail may also occur in some areas of North-West, Central, East and West India.
There may be heavy snowfall in the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand and heavy rains with thunder, lightning and strong winds are also expected in the lower and plain areas for the next five days. There may be hailstorm at some places in UP till May 2. At the same time, it has been raining heavily in many areas including Shimla for the last 24 hours, due to which the temperature has dropped by two to four degrees Celsius.
Temperature dropped by 10 degrees due to rain
Sunday’s rains in Delhi-NCR brought down the maximum temperature by 10 degrees below normal, while the minimum temperature also dropped by one degree. There are chances of rain for the next three days due to which the temperature may drop further. However, after May 4, the weather will clear up due to sunshine and there will be a rise in the temperature.
According to the Regional Meteorological Center, the capital received 0.3 mm of rain till 5.30 pm on Sunday. The maximum rainfall was recorded in Mayur Vihar area at 10 mm. Due to this, the maximum temperature reached 28.7 degrees Celsius, which was 10 degrees below normal and the minimum temperature was recorded at 22.8 degrees, which was one degree below normal.
At the same time, 10.5 mm of rain was recorded in Gurugram, 3 mm in Faridabad till 8.30 am and 4.5 mm in Noida till evening. Mayur Vihar area remained the coldest due to rain. The maximum temperature was recorded here at 28.2 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature was 19.6 degree Celsius.
Delhi’s lowest temperature in April after eight years
Delhi-NCR received light rain on Sunday evening. This brought down the maximum temperature to 28.7 degrees Celsius, which is 10 degrees below the season’s average. According to the Meteorological Department, Delhi recorded its lowest temperature in April since 2015. The maximum temperature recorded on April 4, 2015 was 26 °C.
