Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra said that most of the districts of the state will be affected by the heat wave from April 25 to April 28, hence the officials of the districts should remain alert. On Thursday, the Chief Secretary along with all the Divisional Commissioners and DMs were reviewing the preparations and management for protection from heat wave through video conferencing.
He said that the heat wave will affect animals and birds along with the general public. Necessary steps should be taken by the concerned departments in mutual coordination. There should be no shortage of water anywhere. Effective compliance of the advisories issued to protect against heat wave should be ensured. The general public should be made aware. Immediate medical care should be provided to the people affected by the heat wave. All hand pumps should be kept functional.
Ponds and other water sources should be filled with water for animals and birds. There should be availability of water in cow shelters also. When the fire incident occurred, the officers definitely reached the spot. There should be no unnecessary power cuts; if any fault occurs, it should be rectified immediately.
To avoid incidents of food poisoning during weddings etc., hotel and guest house operators should be contacted and sensitized and they should be asked to serve fresh food. Senior officials of the concerned departments including DGP Prashant Kumar were present in the meeting.
