The Meteorological Department says that there will be some respite from the heat on Friday in the areas of Western UP where voting is going to be held in the first phase. According to Atul Kumar Singh, senior meteorologist of the Zonal Meteorological Center, there will be movement of clouds and light showers may also occur at some places. In such a situation, people who are suffering in the scorching afternoon heat can feel some relief.
At the same time, on Thursday, the day temperature in the state was above normal. There was an increase of up to four degrees. Prayagraj was the hottest with a maximum temperature of 42.2 degrees Celsius. The day temperature was 41.8 degrees Celsius in Agra and 41 degrees in Bulandshahr. The mercury also remained at 40 or more in Kanpur, Etawah, Varanasi, Bahraich, Sultanpur, Fursatganj, Ayodhya, Basti, Jhansi and Hamirpur. The minimum temperature has been below normal in some areas. It was 24 degrees in Lakhimpur Kheri, 25.2 in Fatehgarh, 24 degrees in Bulandshahr. The minimum temperature in the state remained above 20.
According to Atul Kumar Singh, due to the cyclonic circulation around eastern Iran and Afghanistan, the chances of western disturbance becoming active have increased. For this reason, some parts of western Uttar Pradesh are likely to be affected. There are chances of strong winds blowing at the speed of 30 to 40 km per hour.
