Monsoon has now spread across the state. According to meteorologist Atul Kumar Singh, there are chances of moderate to heavy and sometimes heavy rains with thunderstorms in eastern and western Uttar Pradesh for the next four to five days. On Wednesday, it rained heavily in most parts of the state. This made the weather pleasant and people suffering from heat got relief.

The temperature dropped due to intermittent rains throughout the day in most parts of the state. The minimum temperature in Basti fell to 22 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the minimum temperature in Bareilly was 23 degrees Celsius and in Bulandshahr it was 24 degrees Celsius. While the highest maximum temperature in the state was recorded at 36 degrees Celsius in Jhansi.

In the last 24 hours, Basti district recorded the highest rainfall of 237.6 mm in the state. Fatehpur in Barabanki received 200 mm of rain while Nagina in Bijnor received 164 mm of rain. According to the Meteorological Department, El Niño conditions in the Pacific Ocean have ended. Therefore, good rain is expected in the state in July.

Heavy rain alert in these areas

An alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Mirzapur, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar and Jalaun and surrounding areas. At the same time, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in Banda, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Pratapgarh, Varanasi, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Rae Bareli, Bagra, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etawah, Auraiya, Hamirpur and surrounding areas.
