Fresh snowfall occurred in Atal Tunnel Rohtang, Spiti and Pangi on Wednesday amid yellow alert in Himachal Pradesh. Showers also fell in Narkanda and Kufri. On the other hand, there was snowfall along with rain in the mountainous areas of Jammu and Kashmir. The cold has increased with drizzle in the plains as well. Dense fog has affected air and rail services. Two flights from Jammu to Delhi had to be canceled due to fog. Eight trains arrived late than scheduled.

Higher reaches including Badrinath and Kedardham received first snowfall of the year. However, the reconstruction work in Kedarnath is in progress even amid snowfall. On the other hand, the Meteorological Department has predicted drizzling rain with cloudy weather in the western areas of Uttar Pradesh during the next two days. According to Atul Kumar Singh, senior meteorologist of the Regional Meteorological Center, there will be no respite from the melting. Drizzle may occur in western Uttar Pradesh on January 12-13. There are chances of cloudy sky in Lucknow as well. Dense fog will remain in most of the districts.

The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Deoria, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabirnagar, Basti, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, Gonda, Pilibhit, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, and surrounding areas. . Varanasi and surrounding areas, Lucknow and its surrounding areas, Meerut, Kasganj, Amroha, Sambhal, Bandayu etc. in western Uttar Pradesh have been kept on yellow alert.
