Following any such complaint, criminal proceedings are likely to be initiated. The bench further said that marriage does not mean any commercial transaction. It is a sacred ceremony, which is conducted to establish the union between a man and a woman.

According to the Supreme Court, marriage without customs and rituals will not be recognized under the Hindu Marriage Act 1955. The court said that sub-section (2) of Section 7 states that Saptapadi is included in such rites and ceremonies. That is, it is necessary for the bride and groom to take seven rounds jointly in front of the sacred fire. During this time, after taking the seventh step, the marriage becomes complete.

You must have seen that many people declare marriage only on the certificate. But in Hindu religion, without these rituals and rites, marriage will not be recognized only on the basis of certificate. The Supreme Court also believes that the marriage ceremony is the most sacred ceremony in the Hindu religion, it is the responsibility of the bride and groom to maintain its sanctity.
