What happens after drugs are seized anywhere in the country? What are the rules for this?

Drugs are often seized in the action of police and security forces in different states of the country. But do you know what happens to the drugs after they are seized. Today we will tell you what the police does with the drugs after they are seized in any state or border. Know what rules the government has made for disposing of drugs.

Drugs seized

Let us tell you that on Sunday, Assam Police arrested a person with a large consignment of drugs in Cachar district of Assam. A police officer said that the team has made a big drug recovery in Katakhal area of Cachar district. According to the information, the value of the seized drugs is being told to be Rs 9 crore. Police has also seized a scooter used to carry smuggled items. The smuggler was taking the drugs to Aizawl in Mizoram. But now the question is that whenever drugs are seized by the police, how are they destroyed? According to the information, when drugs are seized anywhere including India, their sampling is done first. After its forensic investigation with a fixed standard, preparations are made to destroy it. Now the question is how are the drugs seized in police action disposed of? Let us tell you that for this, an order was issued by the Department of Revenue of the Finance Ministry in 2015. This order was issued because it was found in many states that the standards are not followed in the process of destroying drugs. According to the information, in the order sent to all the states, it was clearly stated that in any case, it is mandatory to take action to dispose of the drug as soon as possible. This order was also issued to prevent misuse of drugs. This order was also issued because in many cases it was seen that after seizing the drug, a large quantity of it used to go missing or go out of the storehouse. This was the reason that after seizing the drug, its sample is sent to the forensic lab for investigation and later it is destroyed. Let us tell you that when the police seizes the drug, first of all its pictures are taken and videography is done. At the same time, the evidence of seizure is submitted to the magistrate and then it is investigated. After this, the magistrate is given orders to destroy it.

How is the drug destroyed?

Let us tell you that every state has a committee for destroying the drug, which is called the Drug Disposal Committee. This committee decides how the drug will be destroyed. In taking this decision, the committee follows the rules of the Pollution Control Board. The Drug Disposal Committee comprises SP, Joint Commissioner of Customs and Central Excise and Joint Director of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence. Along with this, officials of Pollution Control Board are also a part of it.

In a report, a police officer said that the drug is destroyed only when it is in a certain prescribed quantity. For example, the quantity of heroine is 5 kg, hashish is 100 kg, hashish oil is 20 kg, ganja is 1000 kg and cocaine is up to 2 kg. A boiler is used to destroy the drug. In which it is burnt at a temperature of 1000 degrees and safety standards are taken care of.
