Passengers who travel a lot in flights will be familiar with the word turbulence. Today i.e. on 21st May, a Singapore Airlines flight got stuck in air turbulence in the skies of Myanmar. A 73-year-old British passenger has died due to shocks in turbulence, while 30 other passengers are injured. Let us tell you that this flight was going from London to Singapore. Since this incident, people have been watching videos related to turbulence on social media and asking questions. Today we will tell you what is turbulence and how many types are there.
What is turbulence?
First of all let us know that What is turbulence? Let us tell you that when air hits the wings of the plane uncontrollably during flight, air turbulence is created in the plane. Due to this turbulence the plane starts moving up and down. Due to this the passengers start getting shocks. Now the second question is how many types of turbulence are there? According to the information, planes have to face at least seven types of turbulence. Most of the times turbulence is related to weather. In bad weather, lightning and heavy clouds also create turbulence in the aircraft. According to experts, there are Clear Air Turbulence, Thermal Turbulence, Temperature Inversion Turbulence, Mechanical Turbulence, Frontal Turbulence, Mountain Web Turbulence and Thunderstorm Turbulence. Temperature is also a reason.
With the increase in temperature across the world, many changes are taking place. Regarding turbulence, experts also say that with the increase in earth’s temperature, incidents of turbulence in planes are also increasing. Scientists from Britain’s Reading University have done research on this topic in a research paper published in the journal Geophysical Research Letters. According to him, cases of clear air turbulence have increased in the last decades. Research has found that there has been a 55 percent increase in turbulence cases on a North Atlantic air route in the 41 years between 1979 and 2020.
How to keep yourself safe for passengers Safe
Air turbulence is a very common process. But how can passengers keep themselves safe during this time? While traveling in a flight, you must have noticed that many times passengers open their seat belts after the flight takeoff. At the same time, when there is sudden turbulence, the passengers start going upwards uncontrollably. Due to which they get hurt. Let us tell you that pilots always wear their seat belts while traveling. Therefore, wearing a seat belt is a good and safe option to keep yourself safe in air turbulence.
