Dr. Vidya Gupta, a home science expert posted at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra Niyamatpur for the last 20 years, said that Silbatta is an old traditional household appliance. Which is generally used for grinding spices. It is made of stone. Due to which the minerals and micronutrients found in the stone also got into the spices. Due to which the taste as well as nutritional value of the food was increased. But now the mixer has taken the place of silbatta. Spices are ground in a mixer in a very short time but the quality of the spices is also affected.
This is why the taste of spices changes in the mixer
Dr. Vidya Gupta told that when grinding spices with a mixer, the heat in the jar increases due to its blade and the spices become hot, due to which the taste of the spices changes. The aroma of spices disappears whereas grinding spices on a mortar does not heat the spices. The nutrients present in the spices remain intact and the food prepared from the spices ground on a mortar is very tasty. The spices heated while grinding in the mixer also cause harm to the body. But the spices ground on the mortar do not allow heat to be generated in the body.
Nutrients of spices disappear from the mixer
Dr. Vidya Gupta told that by grinding spices on a mortar, the oil present in the spices does not evaporate and it remains in the spices. By grinding the spices on a stone slab, the minerals and nutrients present in the stone get added to the spices. Due to which the nutritional value of food increases. The aroma and taste are better. But when the spices are ground in the mixer, the oils present in the spices get heated and burnt. Due to which the quality of spices reduces.
Physical exercise is done with Silbatta
Dr. Vidya Gupta told that grinding spices with mixer takes less time but it also consumes electricity. Whereas using Silbatta takes a little more time. But grinding spices on a mortar provides physical exercise to women. Due to which the fat around the stomach and thighs is reduced.
Hands remain safe with mixer
Dr. Vidya Gupta told that grinding spices on a mortar can cause burning sensation in the hands. But hands remain safe when grinding spices with a mixer. Time is saved.
