Digital Arrest Cases: Video calls were used by people to communicate with each other till now. But now people are being robbed through this. Cyber criminals are robbing the other person through video calls without showing their face. In this digital age, a new way of online fraud has been discovered, in which people are easily becoming victims. This new method has been named digital arrest. Let us know how cyber criminals are cheating people with this new method.
In digital arrest, most cyber criminals make video calls posing as a senior police officer. During this, that officer is also present in the video. When the conversation starts, the cyber criminals tell the other person that his name has come up in drug smuggling, or a warrant has been issued in his name. When the other person gets scared of these things, he assures him that he will be saved from going to jail. But, in return, so much money will be charged. Since, the person in front is a fake senior police officer, people keep getting trapped in this fraud.
Cases of digital arrests are increasing rapidly
Recently, a family in Delhi-NCR received a similar video call. A senior police officer was present in the video. He was telling them that a warrant has been issued in their name and if they do not want to go to jail, then do as I say. However, the woman showed awareness and posted this video on social media. After this, police investigation revealed that it was a call for digital arrest by cyber criminals. Police also asked people to learn from this incident and be cautious.
Cyber thugs adopt these methods
However, it is not always the case that cyber criminals commit crimes in police uniform. Using technology, they sometimes pose as a manager of a courier company or sometimes as an income tax officer. If you also receive such calls, you can complain about it by contacting the nearest police station or cyber police station.
