General public cannot use
Satellite phones are banned for the general public in India. Strict laws have been made under the Indian Wireless Telegram Act 1933, Section Six of the Indian Wireless Act etc. Along with this, there are many other countries in the world in which using these types of phones is considered unconstitutional. Even in India, only satellite services provided by Inmarsat are recognised. You become eligible to use it only after following some rules and regulations given by the government.
If we talk about the price of satellite phones, then these basic looking phones can cost up to 3 thousand dollars. Satellite phones of different companies are available in the market and they are available for up to $3000. If we look at it in terms of Indian currency, its rate is around Rs 2.5 lakh.
