How fast science is progressing can be gauged from the fact that now science can convert wood into glass through technology. That is, the wood is made in such a way that it looks like glass. Let us know how scientists are doing this and what is the reason behind it.
What will happen with transparent wood?
A description on this has been given by Lars Berglund, a researcher at Sweden’s KTH Royal Institute of Technology, and researchers at the University of Maryland (UM). In which he has told how this transparent wood will be converted into mobile phone screens and TV and laptop screens in the future. Apart from this, it can also be used as a mirror in the house. In fact, this transparent wood is many times stronger and more durable than ordinary glass, so when it is used instead of glass, the risk of the screen breaking will be reduced.
How glass was made from wood
This miracle was first done by a German scientist, Siegfried Fink. He achieved this feat by modifying and removing a substance called Lignin. However, after this many other scientists have made various changes in it. Now you must be wondering what is this Lignin in wood. Actually, Lignin is a glue like substance which helps in carrying water and nutrients in the plant. Due to this the plant grows and the color of the tree appears brown.
How will this screen be made?
Now the question arises that no matter how clean the wood is, how can it become the screen of a mobile phone or TV or laptop. Let us tell you, scientists make it so thin and clear that 80 to 90 percent of the light passes through it. That means, by making slight changes in it, it can be made a screen. Apart from this, its strength is many times more than any ordinary glass.
