This is from the 2016-2017 Ranji Trophy season. In the month of November, a Group B match was being played between Delhi and Jharkhand. In that encounter, Jharkhand had scored a huge score of 493 runs in the first innings. In reply, Delhi’s first innings was reduced to 334 runs. In this innings, captain Unmukt Chand scored 109 runs and Rishabh Pant scored 117 runs, but both of them could not save the team from follow-on. Let us tell you that in matches lasting for 3-4 days, follow-on is given on a lead of 150 runs or more.

Delhi could not enforce the follow-on and Jharkhand invited Delhi to bat for the second time with the intention of wrapping up the opposition’s second innings quickly. Delhi’s second innings started off well as there was a wonderful partnership of 109 runs between Unmukt Chand and Dhruv Shorey.
Rishabh Pant came to bat when Delhi lost the wicket of Dhruv Shorey at a score of 214. From here, Pant batted in a rapid style and scored 135 runs in just 67 balls. During this, Pant scored the fastest century in the history of Ranji Trophy by completing a century in 48 balls. In this innings, he hit 8 fours and 13 sixes. Talking about the whole match, he scored 252 runs, saved the team from follow-on and hit a total of 21 sixes in both innings. In the end, this match ended in a draw.
