In Indian homes, animals like pigeons, rabbits, chickens and even some kinds of small fishes can be reared. For rearing these animals, one has to complete the formalities of registration in the municipal corporation. 

Which animals are prohibited to rear?

In India, rearing of many kinds of animals is prohibited. You cannot rear birds like partridge, parrot, duck, peacock, owl and eagle. You cannot rear animals like camel, deer, monkey, elephant, lion, leopard etc. in your homes. Similarly, keeping crocodile, snake and tortoise is also illegal.
