Which is the biggest village in India, do you know its name? Most people will not know!

India is called a country of villages. According to an estimate, even today about one-third of the country’s population lives in villages. Indian villages have a huge contribution in the economy and progress of our country. This is because India is an agricultural country and even today farming is the main source of livelihood for the people in the villages here. In such a situation, it would not be wrong to say that the real India lives in villages. But if you are asked which is the biggest village in the country? Which is not only the biggest in the country but in the whole of Asia? So do you know the answer to this? Believe me, most people will not know anything about it. In such a situation, let us tell you that this village is in Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh, whose name is Gahmar.

Gahmar is said to be the largest village in Asia, where the population is more than 1 lakh 20 thousand. At the same time, there are about 25 thousand voters in this village. You will be surprised to know, but let us tell you that this village is not only popular because of being the largest in the country and Asia, but there is another reason behind it. Actually, about 12 thousand soldiers of this village are working in the Indian Army. Some of them are soldiers, some are colonels. Apart from this, there are more than 15 thousand retired soldiers in the village. It is said that in this village, someone from every house is definitely in the army or has been. There are many such families here, in which the grandfather is a former soldier and the son is an army soldier. At the same time, the grandson is also preparing to join the army. Every youth here is still handling the legacy of this tradition of the village of soldiers with full responsibility.

Gahmar, located on the banks of the Ganges, about 40 kilometers from the Ghazipur district headquarters, is spread over 8 square miles. Trains going from Mughalsarai to Patna pass through this village. This village is divided into a total of 22 Pattis or Tolas, each Patti of which is named after a former soldier. According to the available documents, this village was settled in 1530 by Kusum Dev Rao at a place called Sakra Deeh. Gahmar also has the famous Kamakhya Devi temple, which is a big center of faith for the people of Bihar including eastern Uttar Pradesh. The soldiers of this place participated enthusiastically in the First and Second World Wars as well as the wars of 1965, 1971 and Kargil. It is said that during the World War, 228 soldiers from Gahmar were included in the British army, out of which 21 were killed. Even today, there is a stone inscription in their memory in the village.

Once upon a time the army used to organize army recruitment camps
It is said that in this biggest village of the country and Asia, there were soldiers from every house. In such a situation, a separate army recruitment camp was organized in the village for the boys here. Boys used to get jobs in the army directly from the village itself. But after 1986, the process of special army recruitment for the village was stopped. In such a situation, now the boys of this village go to Lucknow, Roorkee, Secunderabad and other places to get recruited in the army. Once the Indian Army also provided the facility of Sainik Canteen for the people of Gahmar village, where goods were sent to Gahmar every month from Varanasi Army Canteen. But years ago, this too was stopped. Although Gahmar may be a village, but every facility like a city is available here. From college to hospital is present.
