Bohra Muslim Community: Bohra Muslims are a community of Muslims who follow the ideals of the Shia sect. People of this community are mainly engaged in business. If we talk about India, the population of Bohra Muslims in India is more than 20 lakhs. Out of which 15 lakh are Dawoodi Bohras.

In the 11th century, the Mustali sect made its way to India through religious preachers. After 1539, when the community grew in India, the headquarters of this sect was shifted from Yemen to Sidhpur in India. After this, the year 1588 came when the Bohra community was divided among themselves due to the followers of Dawood bin Qutub Shah and Suleman. However, there was no significant difference in their religious principles.

Dawoodi Bohras follow the ideals of Shias. They mainly live in cities like Surat, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Ahmedabad, Dahod in Gujarat, Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur in Maharashtra, Udaipur, Bhilwara in Rajasthan and Ujjain, Indore, Shajapur in Madhya Pradesh. Dawoodi Bohras first came to Mumbai. The number of Bohra Muslim communities is very high in Yemen and Saudi Arabia.

In most of the Dawoodi Bohra community, one meal comes from a common kitchen. Wherever the Bohra community lives, this community together runs a common kitchen (Sanjha Chulha). The food prepared there is delivered to every house by the people of their own community. Bohra Muslims are very serious about environment and cleanliness.

This community of Muslims is quite prosperous and educated. Most of the people in the Bohra community are businessmen, while some are farmers. Dawoodi Bohras are of a very calm and gentle nature.

Legacy of the Dawoodi Bohra
The heritage of Dawoodi Bohra Muslims is related to the Fatimi Imams, who are also said to be the direct descendants of Prophet Muhammad. During the period of 10th to 12th century, Islam enriched Islam by acquiring knowledge, science, architecture, art literature and many other achievements during its rule over the world. Dawoodi Bohras follow the orders of the Imams. The 21st and last Imam of the Bohra community was Tayyab Abul Qasim. After him, the tradition of spiritual gurus started from 1132. People of the Bohra community have unwavering faith in Sufis and shrines. The Dawoodi Bohra community is a sub-community of the Ismaili Shia community.
