Why are heart specialists preferring robotic heart surgery? Know how low is the risk of error

There has been a new revolutionary change in the treatment of cardiac or heart patients. It has become easier to save more patients through robotic heart surgery. Earlier open heart surgery was done. But with the advent of new technology, there has been a revolution in this field.

Robotic heart surgery

Patients are recovering faster and better in robotic heart surgery. So far 98 percent of the patients have been successful in this. According to the report published in India Today, Dr. Varun Bansal, robotic cardiologist of Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi, openly talks about its benefits. He said that through this, heart surgery has become easier.

Better Heart Surgeries: Earlier, open heart surgery was done by completely cutting the chest. But with the use of technology through robotic heart surgery, it has become easy to operate on the small arteries of the heart with the help of a machine. Now during heart surgery, a small hole can be made on the side and the arteries can be reached with the help of a machine. Now, a complete open heart surgery is not required for valve surgery. Because the heart can be reached by making a hole on the right side.

The entire process of surgery is easy but the method of surgery is different. In this, the patient recovers quickly. The patient can start walking just a day after the surgery. At the same time, he is comfortably discharged within a few days. Within a week or 10 days, the patient can become active and work comfortably.

Specialists growing: The number of robotic heart surgery specialists is increasing rapidly in India. Surgeons are being trained in about 10-15 centers. Robots are still being installed in many hospitals. In a short time, we will have more surgeons and centers for robotic heart surgery, especially in non-tier-1 cities where it has still not become popular.

Ideal for very sick patients: With the help of robotic technology, we have been able to operate on some patients who could have been at very high risk from open heart surgery. Doctors at Apollo Hospital say that a 93-year-old man underwent robotic heart surgery and recovered. We had a 76-year-old man who had several health problems – spinal cord problems, pacemaker, lung disease and kidney problems. With the help of robotic surgery, he started walking with support from the first day and was discharged within a week.
