Aurangzeb controversy: The political fierce battle that Mughal ruler Aurangzeb started ‘great’ has now reached Khuldabad in Maharashtra to reach out his grave. Along with all Hinduist organizations, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra has also supported this demand. Some organizations have also warned of Karseva on Aurangzeb’s grave. After the recent Bollywood film ‘Chhava’, even though this controversy arose over Aurangzeb’s tomb, it was not so during the Maratha Empire.
The pages of history showed that despite the history of the long struggle between the Mughals and the Marathas, the Maratha rulers adopted a respectable attitude towards the monuments of the Mughals and also provided protection to the Mughal monuments in the Maratha Sangh which lasted from 1674 to 1818, including the tomb of Aurangzeb.
Aurangzeb continued to struggle with Marathas for 25 years
Mughal emperor Aurangzeb ruled for 49 years, in which he continued to fight the war with the Marathas for the last 25 years of his life. He also died in the midst of a struggle with the Marathas and on March 3, 1707, he died in Ahmednagar (Maharashtra), after which he was buried in Khuldabad. Let me tell you, Aurangzeb had expressed his wish in his will that he should be buried in Khuldabad itself.
Shivaji’s grandson paid tribute
Historian Richard Eaton’s book ‘A Social History of the Deccan’ mentions Shivaji’s grandson Shahu I to visit Aurangzeb’s grave and pay tribute to him. According to this, after Sambhaji’s death, Aurangzeb got his son Shahu I got imprisoned. At this time he was only 7 years old and he remained in captivity of Mughals for 18 years. After the death of Aurangzeb in 1707, Sheu I was released, after which he went to Aurangzeb’s grave and paid tribute.
Why paid tribute
Many few people know why Shahuji I paid tribute to Aurangzeb. Historical documents suggest that after the release of Shahu I, the power struggle between him and Tarabai started. Tarabai alleged that after spending 18 years in the Mughal camp, Shahuji I had had an impact of the Mughals and he also became culturally Mughal, so they cannot be trusted. When Shahu I went to Aurangzeb’s grave, this thing also proved to be true.
