Although the story of this organization is quite old, but about three years ago in 2021, this organization came into limelight when the American army was withdrawn from Afghanistan. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Taliban captured Afghanistan. In the last three years, Taliban was in the news regarding the Islamic laws imposed on Afghan women, but now this organization is once again in the news. Due to this, war-like situations develop between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
How did Taliban emerge and why was it created by Pakistan? To know this we will have to go into flashback. However, before we go into the past, we need to know the current situation. We have to move to the 90s. In 1990, the Soviet Union was withdrawing its troops from Afghanistan. At exactly this time, Taliban was born in Pakistani madrassas. It is said that radical Islamic scholars laid its foundation in Pakistani madrassas. In the initial phase, Taliban started a movement to implement radical Islamic law in the Pashtun areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan. Saudi Arabia funded this entire movement. Gradually, the influence of Taliban increased rapidly in South-West Afghanistan and in September 1995, Taliban captured Herat province bordering Iran. Exactly one year later, the Taliban also captured Afghanistan’s capital Kabul and ousted President Burhanuddin Rabbani from power.
First got America’s support and then became enemies
It is said that in the initial phase, America helped the Taliban fighters fighting guerrilla war with the Soviet Union. Gave them weapons and money. Gradually this organization became stronger. However, when the 9/11 attacks occurred, the Taliban were accused of harboring terrorists. After this America turned against him. He sent troops to drive out the Taliban from Afghanistan and in 2001 he ousted the Taliban from power in Afghanistan.
Pakistan kept Taliban alive
The intention of America and friendly countries was to completely destroy the Taliban. He had removed Taliban from power in Kabul, but Pakistan’s support kept Taliban alive in the areas adjacent to Pakistan. Although Pakistan continuously refuses to talk to Pakistan, it is true that the Taliban movement originated from the madrassas of Pakistan and when Afghanistan was under Taliban control, Pakistan was among the three countries in the world which supported the Taliban government.
