The first thing that comes to mind as soon as the rainy season arrives is tea and hot pakoras. You must have often eaten tea and pakoras during the rainy season and advised others to do the same, but have you ever wondered why as soon as the raindrops start falling, one feels like eating only tea and pakoras and not anything else? If you think that this happens because of the taste, then this is not true at all, rather there is a scientific reason behind it.
Dr. Anshul Singh, Team Lead in the Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics at Artemis Hospitals, says that there is hardly any house in India where tea and pakoras have never been tasted during the rainy season. Actually, this combination of tea and pakoras is very old and is not just a treasure of taste, but it also benefits health.

This combo provides nutrition
Dr. Anshul explains that if we first look at the ingredients of pakoras, then gram flour, spices and vegetables are usually used in pakoras. Pakoras are made from many different vegetables including potatoes, onions, gourd, pumpkin. There are also pakoras made from lentils like moong etc. Certainly, all the ingredients used in pakoras are beneficial. If they are cooked at home in good oil, then there is no potential risk due to oil. Along with this, the spices used in pakoras are also very good for health. Therefore, in terms of nutrition, they are a treasure of vitamins, proteins, energy and carbohydrates. On the other hand, tea is known to be a hot drink as well as a refreshing accompaniment.
this is the scientific reason
There are other scientific reasons behind this. For example, during the rainy season, the sunlight falls less on the body, which causes a deficiency of vitamin D in the body, as well as the level of happy hormone serotonin also decreases. In such a situation, the body needs carbohydrates. Pakodas are a good source of this. Eating favorite pakodas increases the level of serotonin and refreshes the mood. Apart from this, fried food also increases the secretion of dopamine in our brain, which makes us feel happy. In such a situation, pakodas prove to be beneficial not only for physical health but also for mental health.
A happy atmosphere in the family
Often, whenever pakoras and tea are made in the rain, there is hardly anyone who sits alone and eats and enjoys the weather. During this time, the family members sit together and eat tea and pakoras, laugh and talk, so along with creating a happy atmosphere, it also gives the family a chance to mingle with each other and sit together. This has a positive effect on relationships and mind.
take these precautions
However, it is important to keep the quantity in mind. Eating pakoras in limited quantity sometimes in the rain is good for both taste and health. If pakoras are eaten in large quantities, there is a possibility of increasing cholesterol or blood sugar. However, there is no harm in enjoying them in limited quantities sometimes in the rainy season.
