Why does a sharp pinch on the elbow not cause pain? Skin starts hurting elsewhere, know the real reason!

Often people pinch each other out of mischief. Not only children, sometimes even adults do this for fun. Whenever someone pinches rapidly, severe pain is felt. But have you ever noticed that if you pinch yourself or someone else on the elbow or knees (Why pinching elbow does not pain), they would not have felt severe pain. Have you ever wondered the reason for this?

The human body is very strange, its structure is so unique that when you understand it completely, you will consider nature as a very promising inventor, who designed our body so thoughtfully. Some parts of the body are very hard. They are also tough because they protect the body from injury. The elbow is also one such part. Here two bones come and join.

Why doesn’t pinching the elbow cause pain?
The skin of the elbow is very thin and has less fat. According to BBC report, there are very few nerve endings in the skin of the elbow. In simple words, the veins are reduced, which reduces the effect on the skin. The skin of the elbow is hard, due to this there are less pain receptors there. The parts of the body which are more prone to injury, or which are more weak and have more nerve endings, are more sensitive.

Why does electric shock occur in the elbow?
One more thing is worth noting about the elbow. You must have noticed that if your elbow accidentally hits a table or other hard object, you get an electric shock. Do you know what causes this? According to Science ABC, this happens because of the ulnar nerve which is called funny bone. It is funny because it gives a false indication of electric shock. It starts from the neck and goes till the fingers. The name of this nerve is derived from the bone which is in the lower part of the arm and its protruding bulge works as an elbow. All the nerves of our body are hidden by the muscles so that they do not face any kind of danger. The ulnar nerve is also hidden, but at the elbow, where the upper bone and lower bone of the hand meet, this nerve is not covered. There is a cubital tunnel where this nerve remains hidden only by skin and fat. For this reason, when this nerve is touched here, it creates a sensation. When the elbow hits a hard object, it presses against the nerve and bone and due to this the brain experiences an electric shock due to which people immediately remove their elbow from there.
