Why does Bhutan maintain distance from big countries like America? Know the reason

Bhutan, situated in the Himalayan hills, is bordered by India on three sides. China is above it. Nestled between two superpowers of Asia, Bhutan is a country with a constitutional monarchy. Although Bhutan keeps itself away from any political matters, India has been playing the role of elder brother for this small country for a long time. Even Bhutan’s foreign, defense and financial policies have been influenced by India.

Being situated between India and China, even superpower countries like America keep a close eye on Bhutan. However, the big question is that where many countries of the world are influenced by America or Russia, how did Bhutan keep itself away from these big countries? And how does India have so much influence on Bhutan…

Have friendly relations with India

Bhutan has always been a supporter of India. Both the countries share a border of about 605 kilometers long. As far as the friendly relations between India and Bhutan are concerned, it is hidden in a treaty signed between the two countries in 1949. After India’s independence, a treaty was signed with Bhutan. Under this, India will never interfere in the internal affairs of Bhutan, but Delhi will always have influence on its foreign policy. Actually, Bhutan is the country which can give India a strategic edge in terms of security. The reason for this is that Bhutan’s population is low, yet it has a lot of area.

Always remained distant from big countries

Bhutan is the only country in the world which has always remained isolated. According to the US Department of State, Bhutan became a member of the United Nations in 1971, but this country does not have diplomatic relations with any country. In fact, to preserve its culture, Bhutan maintained distance from any country in the world for centuries and did not maintain diplomatic relations with them. According to a report, Bhutan had allowed any foreign tourist to visit for the first time in 1970, not only this, internet and television permission was also given here in 1999. To preserve its culture, the government here limits the number of tourists.
