Actually, we think that when we drive at night, we should use dipper light to see things far away. This option is provided in the head lamps installed in vehicles. However, dipper lights are not used when driving within the city. The focus of the head lamp increases in dipper light. The focus becomes straight parallel to the road. With this you can see distant things easily. But, ‘Use Dipper at Night’ written on the back of trucks does not mean this at all.
What does ‘Use Dipper at Night’ mean?
Now this question must be arising in your mind that what does this mean? Actually, ‘Use Dipper at Night’ is the tag line of an awareness campaign. Dipper is the name of a condom brand. The government and voluntary organizations had launched this campaign in collaboration with Tata Motors about a decade ago.
In fact, in all the research it was found that a large number of truck drivers in the country are suffering from Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) and AIDS. The main reason behind this happening is that truck drivers stay away from their families for long periods of time. In such a situation, they used illegal methods to fulfill their need of making relationships. Besides, he rarely used proper protection i.e. condom while having sex. Due to being away from family, drug drivers often had unsafe relationships.

In view of these problems, voluntary organizations and the government launched a campaign to make drivers aware. In this, the country’s leading truck manufacturing company Tata Motors cooperated. Actually, Tata Motors is the largest company producing trucks in the country. Most of the trucks running on the highways of the country belong to this company.
Overall, to create awareness about safe driving among truck drivers, Tata Motors, Government and voluntary organizations jointly launched this campaign and this tag line was prepared. This tag line was prepared by ad agency Rediffusion Y&R. Its clear message is that you should use dipper condom while having sex at night. This campaign became very popular in fighting diseases like AIDS and STDs. A lot of awareness was also created among truck drivers.
