Why the number of foreign students dips in India: While on one hand the number of candidates going abroad to study from our country is increasing year after year, on the other hand the number of students coming to India from abroad to study has decreased. There is no doubt that India’s civilization, culture and beliefs still have a different style at the global level, but this style is not seen in the matter of studies. It is not that there are no good institutes in the country, still why do foreigners not want to come here for studies. Let’s try to know.
The number has decreased

The report of the All India Survey on Higher Education says that the number of students coming to India in the year 2020-21 decreased by 2.6 percent compared to 2019-20. Around 49 thousand students were reduced to 48 thousand the next year. A report also said that now students from fewer countries come from abroad.
The quality is not
If we compare it with other countries, then the standard of living, state of facilities, amenities, research etc. here is not such that it can attract foreigners. It is not that there are no high quality institutes in the country but their number is limited. If we exclude institutes like IIT, IIM, AIIMS (where getting admission is also very difficult), then there are very few institutes in the country that can attract foreign students with their quality.
There is no placement
When foreign students go to study in any country, after completing their studies, the companies welcome them readily and they also get good placements. It is the candidate’s choice whether he wants to work abroad or not or wants to work for a few days. Whereas in our country, foreign students are deprived of jobs even after a few years of experience. Not getting placement after studies is also a problem due to which foreigners do not want to come here.
there are other better options
If some special things included in the core of India are removed like Yoga, Vedas, study of Puranas, study of culture, then in other fields there are better facilities in other countries. If they want to study some other subject (which is not included in the specialty of India) then they prefer to go to countries like US, UK, Canada, Australia etc. and not India.

Students come to India from those foreign countries whose facilities are of a lower standard than India. Such as African countries, Arab countries, Asian countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh etc. In the year 2016, the government also tried to attract students by running a program called ‘Study in India’ but it did not get much success. In terms of studies, the first choice of foreign students is the US. Every year a large number of students from other countries go here to study.
