All religions have their own customs. From birth to death, people of all religions and castes perform all the rituals according to their customs and rituals. In Hinduism, after death, the dead bodies are cremated by burning them. Whereas in Muslim religion, the dead bodies are buried. But do you know how Tibetans perform cremation and why their cremation is so different that it is banned in many countries? Today we will tell you about the cremation of Tibetan people.
Buddhism
In Hindu religion all over the world, the dead body is cremated by burning it. The followers of Islam bury the dead body. Apart from this, in Christianity also the dead body is buried, but it is buried inside a coffin. In the last rites of Jain monks, people bid at every stage and the money collected from it is used for the welfare of the people. But in Tibet, the method of last rites among the followers of Buddhism is completely different.
Burial rites of Buddhist saints
Even today, in Buddhism, the process of last rites of saints and sages as well as common people is quite different. Here, the dead body is neither buried nor burnt after death. Let us tell you that in Buddhism, after the death of a person, the dead body is taken to a very high place. Buddhists say that the process of last rites is completed in the sky. That is why the dead body is taken to a very high peak. In Tibet, there are already places for the last rites of the followers of Buddhism. Buddhist monks or lamas reach the place of last rites even before the dead body arrives. After this, the dead body is worshipped according to local traditions. Then a special employee cuts the dead body into small pieces. The followers of Buddhism call this special employee Rogyapas.
Let us tell you that after cutting the dead body into small pieces, Rogyapas prepares a solution of barley flour. After this, the pieces are dipped in this solution. Then these pieces of the dead body coated with barley flour solution are put to become food for vultures and eagles found on the peaks of the mountains of Tibet. When the vultures and eagles eat the meat from their pieces, then the remaining bones are ground and made into powder. This powder is again dipped in the barley flour solution and left to become food for the birds.
Why is it banned in America?
Now the question is why is the cremation of Tibetan people banned in America. Let us tell you that the tradition of sky burial has been going on in Tibet for more than 1100 years. Like Hinduism, the followers of Buddhism also believe in reincarnation. But a section of the world considers sky burial to be very cruel. Even in many countries like America, this method of cremation is banned. According to the report, if a Tibetan Buddhist dies in America, then his family members want to cremate him through sky burial, then they take the body to Tibet after taking a permit. However, the method of cremation of Tibetan people is quite similar to that of Parsis, who leave the body in the ‘Tower of Silence’. However, Parsis do not cut the body into pieces.
