Why You Feel Sleepy All Day In Winter This Is The Reason

Why We Feel Sleepy In Winter: In the winter season, everyone becomes friends with a quilt, no matter how determined they are. Even the plans made by many people get ruined by this cold and the warmth provided by the quilt. No one wants to wake up in the cold in the morning. Everyone’s mind just wants to get some more sleep. There is also a lot of sleep in winter, but do you know why there is so much sleep in cold weather as compared to summer? Why do we remain tired even after waking up?

If you are feeling that due to excessive cold, you get more sleep, then you are thinking wrong. It is true that our sleeping habits change according to the season. Due to the changing season, the temperature also changes and the duration of sleep also increases. Here it is important to understand why this happens. How does the cold affect your sleep patterns? Actually our body naturally produces melatonin (sleep hormone). The change in the time of sunrise and sunset affects the level of melatonin.

What is melatonin?

In winter, the sunlight is often less as in summer, so the suppression of melatonin is also not as much as in summer. Therefore, many times our body is not able to differentiate between the time of day and night, due to which the desire for sleep is more. Melatonin is a hormone of the body, which comes out of the pineal gland in the body. This hormone itself causes more sleep in winter. Pineal gland is in the brain. When this hormone called melatonin is released, then we start feeling sleepy.

What is the remedy?

Lack of exercise, unhealthy eating habits, poor lifestyle, lack of sunlight, weak immunity and diseases like cold and flu are also some of the reasons for excessive sleepiness in winter. All these factors can affect your sleep in cold weather. However, to avoid this situation, you can take care of some things, such as-

1. Try to get sunlight during day time.

2. Exercise daily for 15-30 minutes.

3. Avoid sleeping during the day and keep yourself busy in day to day activities.

4. Maintain room temperature properly. The bedroom should neither be too hot nor too cold.

5. Do not eat too much food, especially in winter avoid eating more in dinner.
