CAA Issue: The discussion about Lok Sabha elections 2024 is in full swing. Be it Congress or BJP or regional parties, everyone has to pass the election test, for that plans have started being made and experiments are also being done. An example of this was seen from the political developments in Bihar on 28th December.
Government changed in Bihar but not the CM. Now what are the further preparations? To understand this, let us understand some questions and their possible answers. The question is, what preparations has BJP made for 80 seats of UP, how will it win? The answer can be- Ram Mandir‘s promise fulfilled.
The next question is, what was the formula used to win the 40 Lok Sabha seats of Bihar? The answer could be that Bharat Ratna to Jannayak Karpuri Thakur and a new alliance with Nitish. The third question is a little difficult because the competition is more. What will BJP do now to win 42 Lok Sabha seats of West Bengal? It is believed that the answer to this was given by Union Minister Shantanu Thakur on Monday (January 29) that he will implement the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA)."text-align: justify;">Let us tell you that the purpose of CAA, brought by the BJP led government at the Center in the year 2019, is to oppress the Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Parsis and Christians who came to India from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan before December 31, 2014. To provide Indian citizenship to non-Muslim migrants who have suffered.
What did Shantanu Thakur say?
Union Minister of State Shantanu Thakur said, “I guarantee that the Citizen Amendment Act (CAA) will be implemented across the country within 7 days.” Not only in West Bengal, CAA will be implemented across the country within the next 7 days.”
The question is about timing because after winning 120 seats in two big states, BJP is now competing with Mamata Banerjee. In the last Lok Sabha elections, BJP had won bumper seats in West Bengal, but what will be the strategy this time?
On January 3, ABP News had shown the news that CAA can be implemented before the Lok Sabha elections. Now BJP has started moving forward in this direction. Social activists have also started coming forward against it.
CAA is the demand of the country- Giriraj Singh
Meanwhile, Union Minister Giriraj Singh said, “The demand of the country is CAA… Not only CAA, now the country needs NRC.” If you have to take ration, you will give Aadhaar and if there is NRC, you will protest, this will not work…”
Protest will continue – Uzma Parveen
To understand how many seats in West Bengal can be affected by the implementation of CAA, remember the incident when the Prime Minister before the 2019 elections Narendra Modi was campaigning in West Bengal, during which he reached Thakur Nagar and met the people of Matua community. From here the relationship between BJP and Matua community deepened.
Matua factor in West Bengal politics
It is important to know what the Matua factor means in the politics of West Bengal. Matua community comes under Scheduled Caste. There are 2 crore 14 lakh Dalit voters in Bengal. Of these, 35 lakh i.e. about 16 percent are Matua voters. Matua voters are highest in the three districts of West Bengal, North Pargana, South Pargana and Nadia. They decide victory and defeat on 21 assembly seats and 6 Lok Sabha seats. Since 1947, these people started settling here from the then East Bengal.
This is the reason whether it is BJP or Mamata Banerjee’s party TMC, everyone has been trying to tap this vote bank. Now as soon as the CAA statement came, Mamata Banerjee started showing her attitude regarding CAA and NRC.
What did Mamata Banerjee say?
CM Mamata Banerjee said, “People have to ensure that their names are in the voter list so that BJP does not get a chance to remove them citing NRC…”
Now the question is how will BJP benefit in West Bengal with the introduction of CAA? There are two or three big reasons for this. Census of Matua community was not conducted after 2011. There are many who have not yet got citizenship, they are living as refugees. If citizenship is granted under the new law, BJP can capitalize on it as an election promise.
Now in such a situation, if Mamata Banerjee does not allow the implementation of the CAA law and somehow delays it, then BJP can go among the public by accusing her of Muslim bias. That is why BJP is on the front foot regarding CAA and other parties including Mamata Banerjee’s party are seen preparing to woo Muslim votes."text-align: justify;">Such air-to-air fires have been happening for a long time – Congress leader Pramod Tiwari
A citizen is not given citizenship again – Shashi Panja
West Bengal government minister Shashi Panja said, “There is no need for CAA and it will not be implemented in Bengal. The citizen is not given citizenship again.”
It is believed that if in West Bengal Lok Sabha elections Apart from all the issues, if the elections are fought on the Hindu-Muslim issue, then the Hindu vote can get united, which can benefit the BJP.
