With Khaleda Zia leaving the country, there will be a void in the politics of Bangladesh, because earlier in August 2024, Awami Party leader and then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also had to leave the country amid violent protests. Experts believe that the interim government of Mohammad Yunus will not face any challenge from any side. Although the BNP party has been supporting the interim government, relations between the government and the BNP have been strained for some time now, as there was talk of formation of a new party by people close to the government.
Yunus wants absolute rule?
Khaleda Zia is going out of the country at a time when her party’s demands regarding elections in the country are increasing. However, meanwhile, the interim government has said that elections will not be held until ‘everything is right’ in the country. In the past, many people close to the government were criticizing BNP that they were making hasty demands for holding elections. According to Bangladeshi newspaper, the order in the ongoing ‘Zia Orphanage Trust Case’ against Khaleda Zia will come on Wednesday. According to BBC Bangla, many experts are worried about Khaleda Zia going abroad, they believe that there is no idea how the situation in the country will change after her absence.
Is Yunus forming his own party?
Regarding Bangladesh’s interim government chief Mohammad Yunus, it was said that he was forming his own party. Although Yunus has denied this, but amidst the changing circumstances, experts also insist that there is no tussle brewing between the interim government or the Bangladeshi Army.
