World Weather: This year, most of the states across the country received heavy monsoon rains. However, monsoon has bid farewell in many parts. Regarding the change in the weather of the country, the Meteorological Department said that the main reason behind the change seen is La Nina. IMD said that most of the agencies present in the world had made wrong predictions regarding La Nina.
American weather agency Noah had issued an alert regarding La Nina in the month of May. He had indicated that La Nina conditions would arise as soon as possible. Later they said that it will come in the second half of May, but their information remained limited and now after 4 months, October has come and the situation of El Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO) still persists. Experts believe that due to the delay in La Nina in the beginning, the heat wave seen at the global level since October may be prolonged.
What would happen due to El Nino and La Nino in India?
According to the American weather agency Noah, Nino Southern Oscillation is one of the causes of very important climate events on Earth. It has the power to change the atmospheric ecosystem at the global level. Due to this, there is an impact on the temperature and rainfall all over the world. El Nino refers to increased sea surface warming in the central and eastern tropical Pacific Ocean. These incidents happen every 3 to 5 years or so. These are a part of climate change. In India, El Nino is considered to be the cause of scorching heat and weak monsoon. Whereas La Nina is associated with strong monsoons and cold winters.
What do experts say about La Nina?
Regarding La Nina, IMD Director General M. Mahapatra says that none of the models around the world have justified the forecast of La Nina. However, its characteristics are similar to La Nina, which helps in getting earlier information about monsoon. Experts believe that the climate crisis is responsible for this. Other experts say that the biggest reason for the change in La Nina could be global warming. Due to this, El Nino and La Nina have developed.
