According to media reports, Motorola had invested 100 million dollars to make this phone. The first cell of this phone was made available on 6 March 1983.

The phone was kept in a briefcase. After talking for some time, it was switched off so that its battery was saved. Nothing could be stored in the phone except contacts.

The price of this phone was 3995 dollars, which means that as of today it would have been a phone worth 10,000 dollars. To use the phone, we had to pay a rent of about $50 per month. This phone was a radio phone which worked with the help of signals.
