World Students Day dedicated to APJ Abdul Kalam
Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was born on 15 October 1931 in Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu. APJ Abdul Kalam was one of the world famous scientists not only of India but of the world. APJ Abdul Kalam also had an important contribution in making India a nuclear power. On July 21, 2002, he was nominated as the 11th President of India. APJ Abdul Kalam’s life was full of struggle. But he overcame all the difficulties and achieved many heights in life.
APJ Abdul Kalam was very famous among students also. His life was very simple. Apart from being the President of India, he was also an excellent teacher. He also gave lectures to students in many universities. To honor his contribution, on October 15, 2010, the United Nations Organization has announced to celebrate his birthday as World Students Day. Since then, every year his birthday is celebrated as World Students Day.
Had a special relationship with Ratan Tata
APJ Abdul Kalam is known as Missile Man not only in India but all over the world. But Ratan Tata had a big contribution in getting him the title of Missile Man. It is the year 1993, during that time Ratan Tata used to be the Chairman of Tata Consultancy Services i.e. TCS and Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was posted as Scientific Advisor to the Defense Minister. Under his supervision the missile was being made in Defense Research Development Organization i.e. DRDO.
The work of making missiles was going very slowly. Its different parts were being made at different places in the country. APJ Abdul Kalam was very worried about this. He wanted this work to be done quickly. That is why he held a meeting with Ratan Tata at Seva Bhawan for this work. Ratan Tata got the software made on the request of APJ Abdul Kalam. Due to which the work of making missiles gained momentum. And it was from here that Ratan Tata and Abdul Kalam became friends.
