India fumbled in the first innings
The Indian team could not do anything special in their first innings. Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose bowling. The Australian team, which came out to bat, put 469 runs on the board in the first innings, in response to which Team India got all out for 296 runs in their first innings. In the first innings for Australia, Travis Head scored 163 and Steve Smith scored 121 runs.
Rahane-Shardul played important innings for India
Indian top order completely disappointed while batting in the first innings. After this, Ajinkya Rahane at number five and bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur at number eight played half-century innings while handling the responsibility for some time.
