Xiaomi Smartphones: Xiaomi is removing a feature from its smartphone, which was very popular among the users for its special features. With the help of this feature, users could listen to the audio of YouTube videos even after turning off the screen in Xiaomi phones. Xiaomi stopped this feature
YouTube also provided this feature to the users who purchased YouTube Premium subscription, but Xiaomi users did not have to spend a single rupee for this feature nor did they have to buy YouTube Premium subscription. Now Xiaomi has decided to discontinue this feature. Xiaomi is going to disable this feature in its phones through OTA i.e. over-the-air update.
YouTube will directly benefit from this move of Xiaomi, because now those users using Xiaomi phones will also have to lock the phone and buy a subscription of premium service to listen to YouTube audio. In this service of YouTube, users get the facility of ad-free streaming, ability to play videos in picture-in-picture mode, and listen to YouTube audio even after locking the phone or in the background.
Since when was the feature available?
Xiaomi introduced this background play feature with its operating system update MIUI 12 in 2021. However, now this special feature of YouTube will not work in Xiaomi phones running on MIUI 12, 13, 14 and latest OS HyperOS. Talking about smartphone models, this feature will no longer work in Xiaomi 14 series phones, Xiaomi 13 series phones and Xiaomi 12T. Now it has to be seen how much YouTube benefits after the closure of this feature in Xiaomi phones.
