Yashasvi Jaiswal’s father told, “He called after the century at around 4:30 in the morning and he could not hold back his tears. I cried too. It was quite an emotional moment. He didn’t talk for long because he was tired. He only asked me, ‘Papa, are you happy?’
Jaiswal made these records by scoring a century in his debut
This innings of Jaiswal was the biggest among the Indian batsmen who made their debut on foreign soil. Apart from this, he was the third Indian player to cross the mark of 150 runs in his debut match. Earlier, left-handed Shikhar Dhawan and current captain Rohit Sharma had done this feat.
Jaiswal was awarded the title of ‘Player of the Match’ for his brilliant innings of 171 runs. He became the 8th Indian player to win the title of ‘Player of the Match’ in his debut match. In the IPL played before this series, Jayaswal appeared in a very good rhythm. He also scored a century in the tournament.
