Hyderabad: Eating sweets after meals is a part of our culture. The most commonly eaten sweet after eating biryani in Hyderabad is double ka meetha. This is a sweet which is eaten in Hyderabad as well as in the entire country. Double Ka Meetha is one of the most popular Hyderabadi dishes which is served at weddings and parties.
This sweet resembles Shahi Tukdi
Talking to Local 18, housewife Chandni says that both Shahi Tukda and Double Ka Meetha are similar to each other to a great extent but these two sweets are different. Both look similar but their taste is different. Shahi Tukda contains more sheera but Double Meetha does not contain sheera, instead it contains rabri made from milk.
Ingredients of Double Ka Meetha
Bread slices, milk, sugar, cardamom powder and 4 to 5 green cardamoms, dry fruits (almonds, cashews, raisins, pistachios, dried rose leaves), saffron, ghee. Before making this, collect so many ingredients and then prepare double the sweet by following the method mentioned below. It is not difficult to make nor does it take much time, it just takes time to make rabri.
This is how it gets ready
He further explained that Double is made by soaking sweet, fried bread slices in hot milk with spices including saffron and cardamom. First of all the bread is fried in ghee. On the other hand milk is heated with saffron. Cashews, almonds, raisins, chironji etc. are added to it and the milk is thickened.
When the milk thickens, bread is soaked in it. After some time, the bread is taken out, rabri made of milk is wrapped on it and dry fruits are added to it. Then a piece of bread is served. Its taste will make you crazy.
