Old buildings are known for their large and unique style. It is not new for them to be up for sale. But have you ever heard of a bunker being up for sale? This is rare, but one bunker has come into the news after being put up for sale online. This historic nuclear bunker has generated a lot of interest among people. The Royal Observer Corps bunker, built in the post-war era of the 1950s, is one of only 1,500 bunkers ever built.
Located 14 feet underground in the village of Wormhill, near Buxton on the edge of the UK’s Peak District, the bunker is described as being in “excellent condition, clean and dry”, with some “interesting items still intact in their original state”, including a toilet that has never been used.
“A fantastic opportunity to purchase a piece of British history from the last war. A once in a generation opportunity to purchase the ROC Nuclear Bunker, also known as the Royal Observer Post,” the listing reads.

The report further states, “This particular site was one of several built in the 1950s and was designed to provide protective housing for three observers who would survive a nuclear attack and were expected to report on nuclear explosions and the consequences of a nuclear attack.
“Most of these sites were closed down and sold in 1993 and we are told that many have been bought by telecom companies and are now sites for mobile phone towers.” This bunker is available for sale online for around Rs 16,65,000.
SDL Property Auctions adds, “The bunker is safe, dry and in its original condition, the current owner has renovated and decorated it to prepare it for its new owner. There are wall-to-wall velvet curtains, a cream carpet, a made-up bed, a log burner, storage and even a rug to make it as homely as possible.”
