The trend of deaths due to drowning in Ganga in Varanasi district is not showing any signs of stopping. Another incident has come to light again on Tuesday. A young man drowned while bathing in the Ganges in front of Janaki Ghat in Bhelupur police station area. The young man had come from Delhi on Monday to visit Kashi.

On Tuesday evening, Himanshu Kumar Sharma (20) started drowning after going into deep water while bathing in the Ganga. NDRF personnel arrived on information and found the body and took it out. Meanwhile, the police reached the spot, took possession of the body and sent it for post-mortem.
The police informed the deceased’s father Vinay Kumar Sharma about the incident over phone. The family left for the city. The deceased was a resident of Durgapuri Extension Mandoli, North East Delhi. On Monday morning, he stayed in a hotel located in Assi with his companions Vikram Kumar and Armaan Sahni, residents of Ludhiana, Punjab.
Himanshu’s companions Arman and Vikram Kumar told that on Monday evening all three had reached in front of Manikarnika Ghat while roaming. Where seeing the pyre burning, Himanshu had said that his house will also be built at this place. He was aware of his death. Vikram and Armaan are very sad after the death of their partner.
