On Saturday night, miscreants attacked a youth with a knife when he resisted robbery in Uttam Nagar area. The injured youth was taken to a nearby hospital, from where he was referred to Safdarjung Hospital. He died during treatment on Sunday morning. Police have registered a case of robbery and murder. The deceased has been identified as Monu Kashyap (18).
He lived with his family in Fatehpur, Meerut, UP. He used to sell balloons in fairs. These days a fair is being held in Uttam Nagar area. He was working in a balloon shop in the fair. He came here six days ago. The police officer said that on Saturday night the police received information that near Uttam Nagar Metro Pillar No. 656, miscreants had stabbed a young man when he resisted robbery.
As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot and admitted the injured Monu to DDU Hospital for treatment. He was stabbed in the back. His friend told that he had come here with him six days ago. Both of them had come to the Dhaba near East Metro Station at around 11 pm, but both were going back as the Dhaba was closed. During this time, four-five boys surrounded them near pillar number 656 and started asking for money. When they refused to give money, one boy stabbed Monu with a knife and killed him.
