YouTube testing new tool to cut out popular parts of videos and publish them separately

YouTube is now testing a new tool for creators. With the help of this tool, creators will be able to cut highlights or popular parts of their long videos and publish them separately. Currently it is available for select creators. This can be accessed from the ‘Create a video highlight’ option at the bottom of the YouTube Studio desktop. Currently this tool is working only for English videos. Later it may become available in other languages also.

Clips will be different from shorts

The new tool picks out the most popular parts of the video and splits them into separate clips. There will be no change in the orientation of the video and the clip will also remain in the size of 16:9 like the long form video. This is to prevent short clips from being switched to YouTube Shorts. This tool will automatically highlight popular parts of the video. After this, creators will also have the option to trim them and publish them separately.

What will be the benefit of this tool?

This tool is going to make the work of creators easier. If a viewer is visiting a YouTube channel for the first time, then he can get an idea of the content by watching these short clips. If he likes this clip then he can watch the longer video also. In this way, it will act as a hook for the viewers of the long form video.

Currently, trial is going on only on English video

Currently the company is testing it only on long videos in English language. Selected creators have also been selected for trial. It is not yet known whether YouTube will roll out this tool for other creators or videos in other languages or not. Information in this regard may emerge in the coming few weeks.
